Walleyes
– They’re everywhere
DeLesseps Lake, 20 miles long, is an irregular, island-dotted
body of water rich with walleyes ad northerns.
Combine this with Miniss Lake (through a short river) and
you have over 75,000 acres of exclusive fishing waters. These
two lakes have many large areas as well as numerous bays,
so weather is never a problem.
This lake is teeming with walleyes in the two to four pound
range, with some tipping the scales in excess of eight pounds!
It’s common to catch and release your limit, ten to
twenty times a day with, of course, the exception of shore
lunch – where it’s an all-you-can-eat outdoor
banquet.
Action is the Name of the Game
To
say you can catch over a hundred walleye a day is not an exaggeration.
Here, the best fishing is not on the other side of the lake
– it’s just minutes from the dock, if not literally,
under the dock. In fact, several large walleye and northern
lurk under the front docks awaiting their minnow handout
at the end of the fishing day. Needless to say there is no
fishing allowed off the front dock for our 'pets'.
However, that doesn't prevent anyone from fishing off the
back dock where kids of all ages have a ball hauling in walleye
and northern as the sun sets.
While walleyes provide non-stop action and are the main attraction,
there are many huge northern pike and lake trout lurking beneath
the surface.
If you’ve never fished before – not to worry.
Under the skillful direction of your guide, you’ll be
reeling ‘em in at near pro status in a matter of minutes.
Commitment to the Future
Each
guest can take home a conservation limit of two walleye –
cleaned and frozen in a compact insulated bag for your trip
home. We have a policy that restricts our guests from keeping
walleyes over 3 pounds and any northern pike or lake trout.
This will insure many years of trophies coming from these
waters.
